Day 8 is Jodhpur's day

I hope you are appreciating the lengths I am going to in order to communicate daily.......

Waited for the one hotel computer to be free (the hotel doesn't do wi-fi, but then it appears that Jodhpur doesn't do wi-fi); power cut plunges the whole of the hotel into darkness. Power back on and no internet. So I go into the market and ask for an internet cafe.....the one to which I'm directed tells me "No internet today" so now I am sat in a dusty, urine smelling, flea pit of a hole typing this to you.

Hence - I hope you are appreciating the lengths I am going to in order to communicate with you! :)

Pics below include the entrance to the Jodhpur hotel, my palatial room (one night only I might add) and the clock tower and fort in the background with resident squatter cows in the foreground.

I was going to wax lyrical about poverty, guilt and what we westerners could be doing to alleviate the poverty that is so prevalent here...... however, as my skin is already crawling and I swear to God, there is something moving in the corner behind a fridge, I will make this brief.

Rajastani Thali meal - last night 8 pounds in posh restaurant as recommended by the Rough Guide in Udaipur, including beer, dessert and coffee - I think the best Indian meal I have ever had.

Tonight, Rajastani Thali meal - 5 pounds in restaurant near station as recommended by the Rough Guide in Jodhpur, including beer and dessert - I think the worst Indian meal I have ever had.

How come? Answers via email please (is anyone actually reading any of this???!).

I'm sorry - whatever is in the corner - about 2 feet from me, behind a fridge is getting quite frisky........

I'm outta here to de-flea and shower.

Laters. xx
